Spartans’ Connor Cook trying to be running threat, too

It set the tone, yes, but quarterback Connor Cook’s early run Saturday — in which he barreled over Michigan safety Delano Hill — also continued Michigan State’s long-term effort to make opponents think of Cook in a different way.

MSU coach Mark Dantonio told Cook before MSU’s Oct. 11 win at Purdue that nothing fires up a team like a quarterback “lowering his shoulder and running over a guy.” And since that game, Cook has made 13 of his 25 rushing attempts and 42 of his 44 rushing yards on the season. - Read more at Freep.com
