Michigan State’s Mark Dantonio one of 13 on Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year watch list
EAST LANSING — Michigan State’s Mark Dantonio is one of 13 coaches on the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year watch list that was released on Friday.
Dantonio’s Spartans (7-1) are ranked No. 5 in the USA Today coaches poll and No. 8 in the College Football Playoff rankings as well as the AP Top 25 and Grantland Rice Super 16 polls.
Dantonio, the coaches and media’s Big Ten Coach of the Year last season, was a finalist for four national coach of the year awards last season, but he failed to win any despite leading the Spartans to a 13-1 record and their first Rose Bowl appearance in 26 years.
