Michigan State’s Tom Izzo says Bryn Forbes must improve defense but shot is no joke

EAST LANSING — Tom Izzo has a way of knowing how to motivate each of his players, pushing some harder than others and using a variety of techniques.

But one method Michigan State’s 20th-year coach consistently uses with all players is his humor, gently needling with a funny line that has just enough truth to be effective.

Bryn Forbes, a former Lansing Sexton High School student who transferred to MSU from Cleveland State, learned all about that Tuesday at the Spartans’ media day.

“This is when I wish I was a football coach,” Izzo said, speaking on Forbes. “I’d put (Forbes) on offense, I’d watch him on the bench on defense, but I can’t do that.” - Read more at MLive.com
