Carlton Valentine: How Denzel almost became a Wolverine

On Friday’s Drive with Jack show, live from the Blue Gill Grill, Jack and Tom Crawford talked basketball with Lansing Sexton’s two-time state champion coach, Carlton Valentine. Coach “V” was a legendary player at DeMatha Catholic High School (MD) under prep hoops’ coaching legend, Morgan Wooten. He is also a MSU hoops alum and father of current MSU guard, Denzel Valentine. Today, Carlton talked about how close Denzel came to joining the Wolverines and John Beilein down in Ann Arbor during his high school recruitment.

The climax of Denzel’s recruitment battle between Michigan and Michigan State came during an AAU tournament in Las Vegas that both Tom Izzo and John Beilein attended. Below is the video from that event featuring Denzel.
