Good news for MSU hoops: Gavin Schilling ‘killing it’

EAST LANSING – Gavin Schilling is “killing it” in the words of Matt Costello, and Tom Izzo called Schilling “the guy this fall that has stepped up probably the most.”

That’s good news for Michigan State, which has home exhibitions Monday and Friday before opening the season Nov. 14 at Navy. It doesn’t ensure significant offensive production from the 6-foot-9 sophomore reserve center, but Schilling’s defensive potential was apparent at times last season when he played just 6.4 minutes a game.
