Column: Thoughts on Ohio State and the College Football Playoff, pertaining to Michigan State

EAST LANSING — Ohio State was playing “name that score” with Illinois on Saturday night, their fans singing the “Buttercup” song before halftime, up 31-0 en route to a 55-14 win.

It was J.T. Barrett’s first start after suffering a sprained MCL in the Buckeyes’ overtime win at Penn State last week, and he looked good more times than not.

Barrett’s mobility is decent, his arm is strong, and he’s fairly accurate.

But Barrett’s not good enough to beat Michigan State in next Saturday night’s Big Ten East Division showdown without a run game to balance things out. - Read more at MLive.com
