Grading the Spartans: An ‘F’ for the ‘D’ vs. Ohio State

Offense: 8

Look, you score 37 points and run the ball effectively and you’re supposed to win. MSU’s offense did what was asked and then some – though two critical mistakes kept the Spartans from being able to keep up. The first was the hold that erased the Jeremy Langford touchdown to go up 28-14. And the second was a hopeless fourth-down run of Nick Hill in the third quarter.

Defense: 1

No pressure on J.T. Barrett. Large running lanes for the Buckeyes. Receivers streaking open in the deep part of the field. Stunningly, the Spartans simply looked overmatched all night. The Buckeyes had a five-possession streak of touchdowns. Ohio State offensive coordinator Tom Herman got some personal revenge of his own on MSU defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi, who had no answers. - Read more at Freep.com
