Grantland Rice Super 16 Poll: Michigan State at No. 10, Florida State returns to No. 1
EAST LANSING — Michigan State returned to the top 10 in the FWAA-NFF Grantland Rice Super 16 poll on Monday, moving up two spots to No. 10 after a 37-15 victory at Maryland on Saturday night.
Defending national champion Florida State reclaimed the No. 1 spot, followed by No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Oregon, No. 4 Mississippi State and No. 5 TCU.
The Crimson Tide defeated Mississippi State on Saturday, 25-20, in Tuscaloosa.
Baylor came in at No. 6 with Big Ten leader Ohio State at No. 7, Ole Miss at No. 8 and Georgia No. 9.
Georgia jumped up from No. 16 to No. 9 after beating Auburn at Sanford Stadium in Athens, 34-7.
The top four teams as determined by the College Football Playoff selection committee (announced each Tuesday night) will contend for the national championship, beginning play in the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl, which will serve as semifinals this season.
The other CFP bowls are the Cotton, the Peach, the Orange and the Fiesta.
Michigan State (8-2, 5-1 Big Ten) hosts Rutgers (6-4, 2-4) at noon Saturday in its final home game of the season at Spartan Stadium. - Read more at MLive.com
