Kinda irked by Michigan hoops and irresponsible headline writers
Oh my God…can get this any worse? As if the 5-7 Michigan Football season didn’t create enough aggravation, here comes back to back debacle setbacks for the recently reliable Michigan Basketball program. The warning from John Beilein going into the Tuesday night 45-42 “root canal” loss to “zone-infested” Eastern Michigan – as in “don’t let the NJIT loss turn into another loss” – did indeed happen. And yet another set of T Shirt orders (EMU along with NJIT) for Michigan State fans to purchase as Christmas “gag gifts” for their Michigan counterparts.
Michigan shooting under 33 percent from the field against EMU – including 19 percent from beyond the 3 point line – says it all, let alone the fact the Wolverines could only manage a pair of offensive rebounds the entire game. The personnel defaults to the NBA this past season is going to take some adjusting to. Yet not worries, Michigan fans. Seriously. Yes, Arizona will probably blast ‘em out in Tucson on Saturday, but I still see Beilein “righting the ship” before the Wolverines have their Big 10 curtain raiser on Dec. 30 at home against Illinois.
And quickly, the other thing that “irked” me this morning was the Detroit News. posting the headline that Duke Coach David Cutcliffe turned down the Michigan coaching job – basing that on a Twitter post from 81 year old Dallas Cowboy exec Gil Brandt. Like how to Hell would he know? Fortunately Duke spokesman Art Chase just declared “there’s been no contact between Michigan and David Cutcliffe or AD Kevin White. And that includes Third parties.”
I call that irresponsible journalism on the part of the Detroit News, in my humble opinion. And yes, my opinion is always “humble.” And like everybody else — just what it is — an “opinion.”
