Izzo trying to keep positive outlook with ‘fragile’ MSU

EAST LANSING – Michigan State freshmen Javon Bess and Lourawls (Tum Tum) Nairn were engaged in a spirited series of one-on-one games on the other end of the Spartans’ practice gym from Tom Izzo, which was good news in itself — and Izzo had more to deliver after a thorough analysis of his struggling team.

Izzo admitted the Spartans’ psyche is “a little fragile” after Tuesday’s Big Ten-opening, double-overtime loss to Maryland to fall to 9-5 overall, with dangerous Indiana (11-3) coming in Monday (7 p.m., Big Ten Network).
