Coaching hire among offseason moves awaiting Dantonio

EAST LANSING – An appreciation for what’s been achieved, a drive for more, a defensive coaching hire soon to be announced, some personnel moves in mind – Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio has all those things as he plunges into another offseason brightened by a program win.

After Thursday’s stunning 42-41 comeback over No. 4 Baylor in the Cotton Bowl, Dantonio’s No. 7 Spartans (11-2) will end up somewhere in the top 10 in the final rankings – last achieved at MSU in 1965 and ’66 under Duffy Daugherty. They’ll be No. 1 in the nation in rush defense and the only program to finish in the top 10 in total and rush defense for the past four seasons.
