Dantonio: R.J. Shelton could play both ways for MSU

EAST LANSING — Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio said the decision of junior quarterback Connor Cook to return for next season is a “huge, huge lift” for his team — and said that the decision of cornerback Trae Waynes to leave for the NFL could result in another two-way player for the Spartans.

Sophomore receiver R.J. Shelton played a few snaps at cornerback early in Thursday’s 42-41 Cotton Bowl win over Baylor, and Dantonio said on a teleconference today that Shelton could play on both sides of the ball next season. Senior receiver Tony Lippett played extensively at cornerback late this season. - Read more at Freep.com
