One Righting Moment - Valentine’s 3 Lifts Spartans Over OSU
EAST LANSING, Mich. — With one flick of the wrist, Denzel Valentine changed Saturday’s game against Ohio State and perhaps Michigan State’s entire season. In a year marred by late-game shortcomings and devastatingly close losses, Valentine’s 3-pointer with 3.9 seconds remaining gave the Spartans their best win of the season, a 59-56 home triumph over the Buckeyes.
MSU saw a 9-point second-half lead slip away and gave up a game-tying 3-pointer to Sam Thompson with 36 seconds remaining. An NIT appearance suddenly seemed like an all-too-real possibility, this team firmly on the NCAA Tournament bubble and in desperate need of a quality win. MSU still isn’t guaranteed a spot in the Dance, but Valentine’s game-winner on Valentine’s Day was a moment. Come March, we might look back on it as the moment. - Read more at MichiganState.247Sports.com
