EAST LANSING – They’ve been pals since seventh grade, from different states but the same AAU basketball teams, and Branden Dawson and Travis Trice both committed to play at Michigan State on Aug. 4, 2010.

They did so separately, though, and with very different receptions. People figured Dawson, an eventual McDonald’s All-American from Gary, Ind., might stick around a couple of years before taking his 6-foot-6 body to an NBA city. People figured Trice, a 6-foot-ish guard from Huber Heights, Ohio, with mostly mid-major offers, might spend four years in East Lansing as a seldom-used reserve. - Read more at Freep.com
