Report: Colin Kaepernick On Trade Block
With the NFL free agency period ready to hit Defcon 5 with the opening signing period beginning when the new league year officially begins, Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m., the rumors are flying hot and heavy from coast to coast.
In the early hours Monday morning, Jayson Braddock of KBME Sports Talk 790 out of Houston reported that San Francisco 49’ers quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, has been placed on the trade block. According to Braddock, three unnamed sources that had confirmed the report to him.
Braddock reported that there are two teams with current interest in the trade, the Chicago Bears and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Braddock does have credibility. Benjamin Allbright (Host on 94.1 FM Denver/96.9 FM Boulder) pointed out that Braddock was the first to report that QB Ryan Mallett was heading to Houston and, most recently, Seattle’s Byron Maxwell heading to Philadelphia.
NFL Network Insider, Jason La Canfora reported shortly after that he had reached out to several teams in the market for a quarterback and none said that they’ve heard anything about Kaepernick being on the market. 49’ers GM Trent Baalke ‘strongly denied the shopping of his quarterback, but with his poor track-record in the honesty department during the Jim Harbaugh saga, it’s not far-fetched to believe he is being evasive on this issue as well.
We’ve reached out to the Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles to get a comment on the situation and have yet to hear back from either team at this time. Stay tuned to DrivewithJack.com and follow me on Twitter at @Jay_NFL for further updates.
