MSU aspires to No. 5 seed in NCAAs; 6 or 7 more likely

EAST LANSING – The No. 5 seed in the NCAA tournament has been very good to Tom Izzo and Michigan State. The Spartans have been slotted there three times in Izzo’s stretch of 17 straight tourneys, and they’ve responded with two of his six Final Four runs (2005, 2010) and a Sweet 16 (2008).

As crazy as it might sound for a team that was “on the bubble” a week ago, the Spartans (21-10) have an outside shot at another No. 5 for their 18th straight tournament. - Read more at Freep.com
