CHICAGO — Denzel Valentine would like to have one split-second decision back. The officials need a redo on missing Josh Gasser’s foot out of bounds. And Michigan State fans could use a mulligan, as well. The Spartan basketball team showed up this weekend at the Big Ten tournament — if only its fans had, too.
MSU was nearly the best team in the Big Ten for three days. It might have been if Valentine had held on to the ball in the final seconds rather than throwing it ahead for a turnover. Or if Gene Steratore, Lamont Simpson or Terry Wymer had their eyes on the out-of-bounds line moments earlier.
