SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The last time Tom Izzo and Rick Pitino met, Izzo really could have used Branden Dawson.

“His freshman year is when he blew his knee in the last game of the year,” Izzo said early this morning, after a 62-58 Sweet 16 win over Oklahoma, of Dawson’s torn anterior-cruciate ligament in 2012. “We met (Louisville) in the Sweet 16, and we were missing an athlete.
