MSU’s Hollis: College athletics at crossroads with revenue
EAST LANSING – Nearly an hour after answering questions on a variety of topics Friday in Room 300 at Jenison Field House, Mark Hollis gave some closing comments — the comments he most wanted to make, about the state of his industry.
“Crossroads might be the word, it might be something else, but it’s a very critical time in college sports to define what it is that we are,” the Michigan State athletic director said. “I think we have to take the coaches’ salaries and be aware of those. Be aware that they perhaps have created many of our situations. And if we have growth in revenues, it’s where are those dollars going?
