VIDEO: MSU Football Coach Mark Dantonio: ‘Our Focus is Always to Reach Higher’
On Friday, Ryan Ermani and Rico Beard broadcast live from Sound Mind Sound Body at Dakota High School, one of the biggest high school football camps in the country. Heavy hitters like Lions coach Jim Caldwell, Ohio State’s Urban Meyer, Jim Harbaugh and Mark Dantonio were onsite mentoring future recruits. Coach Dantonio sat down with Ryan and Rico to talk about the Spartans’ upcoming season.
Most of the teenagers at Sound Mind Sound Body don’t know that the University of Michigan football program was elite. Michigan State’s recent success has made the East Lansing school the premiere team in the state. However, there are plenty more goals to achieve for Coach Dantonio’s team, including a College Football Playoff berth.
“What we do from this point on, we’ll be measured against,” Dantonio says. “We’ve always tried to dream big. We’re not going to have any feeling of entitlement. We understand that we have to work hard. We’re going to compete at a high level. That’s what you have to do in this conference (Big Ten) at any time. That margin of victory is very, very small.”
Check out the entire interview below, including Ryan’s plea for Dantonio to retire.
