EAST LANSING — Tom Izzo took the podium today for media day to preview his 20th season as Michigan State’s basketball coach, forced to start right off with a familiar conversation from last season: injuries.

Freshman wing Javon Bess was prepping for surgery to repair the fifth metatarsal on his right foot as Izzo spoke about a team that will need Bess back as soon as possible.
