MSU notes: Players say loss of frosh Javon Bess stings
EAST LANSING –Coming off a season packed with injuries and forced to talk about another one at his team’s media day, Tom Izzo kept it low-key and spun it forward Tuesday.
The loss of freshman wing Javon Bess is “too bad for us, and I feel bad for him,” Izzo said, but “he’ll get back.”
MSU senior guard Travis Trice was more frank about the impact.
“I mean, he was a guy that was probably gonna end up starting for us, to be honest with you,” Trice said of the 6-foot-5 Bess, who started complaining of right foot discomfort Friday and had surgery Tuesday to repair the fifth metatarsal in his right foot. - Read more at Freep.com
