Michigan State QB Connor Cook named one of 20 semifinalists for Maxwell Award

EAST LANSING — Connor Cook is 19-2 as Michigan State’s starting quarterback — including 13-0 against Big Ten teams — and he might just be in line to win some awards this season, too.

Cook on Monday was named one of 20 semifinalists for the Maxwell Award, which is given annually to the nation’s best player.

The No. 7-ranked Spartans (7-1, 4-0 Big Ten) play host to No. 13 Ohio State (7-1, 4-0) at 8 p.m. on Saturday with the league’s East Division and a potential College Football Playoff position on the line.

Cook, who was also named to the preseason watch lists for the Davey O’Brien Award, the Manning Award and the College Football Performance Awards Quarterback Trophy. - Read more at MLive.com
