MSU 97, Master’s 56: Spartans roll in Byrd’s return

EAST LANSING – Russell Byrd was good for a pair of firsts tonight at Breslin Center, the first public look at the 2014-15 Michigan State basketball team.

Byrd was the first opposing player to take part in the MSU senior day tradition of kissing center court. And he was the first opposing player to shoot an airball and earn less-than-enthusiastic “Airball!” chants from the Izzone – they faded almost instantly for the former Spartan, who got to say a proper good-bye as a member of The Master’s College near Los Angeles.

Byrd will spend his final season of eligibility playing for the Mustangs, while living with wife and former MSU women’s basketball player Klarissa Bell and their daughter, Addison – who was born Friday. - Read more at Freep.com
