Tom Izzo wants tighter defense from shooting guards

One of Michigan State’s strengths last season was its defense at shooting guard — Gary Harris often matched up against the opposition’s best scorer, and he usually did pretty well.

Things are different this year, though coach Tom Izzo is resolved to make them less different by the team the season starts Nov. 14 at Navy. The guy who started in Harris’ spot in Monday’s 97-56 exhibition rout of The Master’s college and the guy who may end up starting both struggled defensively.
