EAST LANSING — As Michael Geiger missed a 36-yard field goal wide right in the first quarter of Michigan State’s win over Michigan, I said to those around me and then tweeted, “MSU has a problem at kicker.”

Most of us who watch or cover sports are gifted in the art of overreaction. ESPN has built a network around it.
