Mark Dantonio aiming Michigan State at elite bowl, Senior Day opponent Rutgers in the way
EAST LANSING — Mark Dantonio’s not exactly sure what these retooled bowls of the previously designated “BCS” level are called. He’s prone to refer to them as “Power Six.” But he knows for sure he wants Michigan State to play in one.
The “selection committee bowls” are four of the six bowls in the College Football Playoff rotation that do no feature a semifinal playoff matchup. As the No. 10-ranked team in the nation, the Spartans would be destined for one if the season were to end today.
“A bowl like that would be a tremendous boost for our program credibility,” Dantonio said at his Tuesday press conference at Spartan Stadium. “We want to build on our resume.
