Mark Dantonio has built a great program at Michigan State, but culture slow to change

Spartan Stadium should be filled to the brim Saturday.

We’re talking standing room only, with Michigan State fans who arrive early and stay late to honor one of the nation’s most successful college football programs.

It should be a full house — but it probably won’t be, based on recent history.

More than likely, there will be empty seats and a student section that arrives late and leaves early when No. 10-ranked Michigan State makes its final home appearance of the season at noon against Rutgers.

I’ve been asked more than once: “Who cares?”

The head football coach at Michigan State cares, as do the players who put on the green and white each Saturday.

Former MSU players like Rose Bowl hero Kyler Elsworth care, too. Elsworth took to Twitter after the Ohio State game to express his displeasure with what he saw as a lack of commitment from fans leaving early. - Read more at MLive.com
