Michigan State kicker Michael Geiger gets back on track at Maryland with three field goals
EAST LANSING — Michigan State sophomore kicker Michael Geiger said he never considered himself in a slump, even though at one point this season he missed four consecutive field goal attempts.
Against Maryland last Saturday, Geiger made his first three field goals, marking the first time he had made consecutive field goals since he made his first two attempts against Nebraska on Oct. 4.
Between those Nebraska makes and the start of what would be a 37-15 win over the Terps last Saturday, Geiger was 2 for 7 on his field goal attempts.
Disappointed? Yes. Frustrated? Absolutely.
But slumping? No. Geiger refused to use that word or allow himself to lose confidence.
“I never considered it a slump; obviously I’m frustrated,” Geiger said. “When you’re a kicker, you have to keep your confidence up, and you have to go to every practice thinking ‘I’m going to make every kick.’ - Read more at MLive.com
