Michigan State WR Tony Lippett has made most of senior season as final home game approaches
EAST LANSING — There were times, Tony Lippett remembers, when things “got a little dark” as far as his goals at Michigan State.
But with a Rose Bowl victory under his belt and the Big Ten receiving yardage crown within his grasp, Lippett heads into his final home game at Spartan Stadium having seen the light.
“We’ve had fun out there on the field, and we’ve won games,” Lippett said, encapsulating his collegiate career in East Lansing. “Just the strides I’ve made since I’ve been here … ”
Lippett just shakes his head, and so do many others when they look at what the lanky, 6-foot-3, 185-pounder from Detroit’s Crockett High School has been through leading up to the Spartans (8-2, 5-1) noon Saturday game against Rutgers (6-4, 2-4).
After redshirting in 2010, Lippett played on both offense and defense in 2011, starting five games at cornerback while also seeing limited time at wide receiver.
Lippett didn’t get focused on the receiver position until his sophomore year of 2012, when he ranked third on the team with 36 catches and fourth in receiving yards with 392. - Read more at MLive.com
