Mark Dantonio ready for emotional Senior Day, but wants Michigan State focused on Rutgers

EAST LANSING — Senior Day is always emotional for the normally stoic Mark Dantonio, and the Michigan State head coach makes no apologies for that.

“We try to make it as seamless as we can, but it’s an emotional time,” said Dantonio, heading into the final home game of his eighth season with the Spartans. “They’re more than just football players; they’re guys you’ve been around for five years that you brought in as 18-year-old freshmen.

“You see that chapter close, and it is an emotional time because there is a lot tied up.”

The Michigan State senior class has won 39 games, and if it wins the final two regular-season games and a bowl game, it will tie last year’s seniors for most wins by a class with 42. - Read more at MLive.com
