EAST LANSING – Marvin Clark Jr. screamed. Branden Dawson pounced. Tom Izzo laughed.

Michigan State had an interesting little sequence late in Friday’s 87-52 blowout of Loyola (Chicago) revolving around Clark, one of the early stories of the season for the No. 19 Spartans (2-1). It showed what he is – a musclebound 6-foot-6 freshman with a lot of potential as a scorer.

And it made him look briefly like something he isn’t – a trash talker. But emotions Izzo has been trying to elicit from Clark came tumbling out after he scored inside on Loyola’s Christian Thomas, plus the foul.
