Two blowout wins rebuild MSU players’ confidence
EAST LANSING – Penn State stands in the way of another 10-win season for Michigan State, but the Spartans are past the Ohio State hangover watch — and their coach couldn’t have asked for a much better pill.
Wins over Big Ten newcomers Maryland and Rutgers by a combined score of 82-18 were mismatches, yes, but also business-like efforts by the No. 10 Spartans (9-2, 6-1 Big Ten). And that was especially true of Saturday’s 45-3 win over Rutgers on Senior Day, which coach Mark Dantonio called one of the most complete performances of the season.
“I think they’ve done an outstanding job,” Dantonio said Sunday night of his team, “and I’ve always said we’ve got great senior leadership here and great chemistry. And that’s what chemistry shows you, that you have the ability to handle the down times with the good.
