Michigan State moves up to No 10 in College Football Playoff ranking, eyes ‘New Year’s Six’ bowl
EAST LANSING — Michigan State moved up a notch in the College Football Playoff selection committee rankings released Tuesday night on the strength of its 45-3 win over Rutgers and Mississippi’s fall from No. 8 last week after it lost to Arkansas.
Alabama (10-1) is No. 1 in the rankings followed by No. 2 Oregon (10-1), No. 3 Florida State (11-0) and No. 4 Mississippi State (10-1).
TCU (9-1) is at No. 5, Ohio State (10-1) is No. 6 and Baylor (9-1) is No. 7 followed by UCLA (9-2) and Georgia (9-2).
The Spartans, also ranked No. 10 in the Grantland Rice Super 16 poll and the Associated Press Top 25, are looking to secure a bid in one of the ‘New Year’s Six’ bowls.
The top four teams in the rankings Dec. 7 will qualify for the four-team national championship playoff, with the Rose and Sugar Bowls serving as semifinals. - Read more at MLive.com
