MSU built to run, but must prove the blur is real
EAST LANSING — If basketball could always be a track meet, and if the games were all played at home against middle-tier mid-majors — Michigan State would be an unstoppable force.
That’s more than could be said 10 days ago at the Naval Academy.
MSU has become a fast-break show since coming home, running Loyola-Chicago and Santa Clara off the Breslin Center floor.
This is coach Tom Izzo’s dream style — forcing opponents into low-percentage shots and then, in a blur, making them pay for every miss.
The Spartans are built to run. More so than some other years. They play three point guards, always two at a time, have athletic wings, wings who can shoot, and two big men who run the floor and fill the lane with ease.
