Apparently, the College Football Playoff committee really didn’t like its Tuesday rankings — it decided five days later to jump Michigan State with Mississippi State, sending the Bulldogs to the Orange Bowl instead of the Spartans.

But MSU, ranked No. 8 in the final CFP standings, still gets a “New Year’s 6” bowl — the 10-2 Spartans will take on No. 5 Baylor (11-1) in the Cotton Bowl, at 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 1 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. - Read more at Freep.com
