MSU walk-on Colby Wollenman impresses on, off court

EAST LANSING – Walk-ons have scant opportunities in programs such as Michigan State’s, and the ones who have contributed in Tom Izzo’s tenure — Tim Bograkos, Austin Thornton and Mike Kebler come to mind — had contact with the coaching staff before arriving on campus.

Colby Wollenman was just a 6-foot-7 freshman on campus in the fall of 2011, a near-perfect student and aspiring doctor from Big Horn, Wyo., who figured he’d take a shot at walking on. A year later, Izzo was talking him into preserving a season of eligibility. - Read more at Freep.com
