Michigan State is ranked in the top 5 of the final Associated Press rankings for the second year in a row — for the first time since Duffy Daugherty’s legendary teams of 1965-66.

MSU jumped two spots, from No. 7 into a tie with Florida State at No. 5, on the strength of a Cotton Bowl victory over Baylor and an 11-2 finish. MSU’s only two losses were to the participants of Monday’s national title game, won, 42-20, by Ohio State over Oregon. - Read more at Freep.com
