No. 38 - Walt Kowalczyk

Halfback, 1955-57, Westfield, Mass.

The skinny: No MSU player has ever finished higher in the Heisman Trophy balloting than Kowalczyk’s third place in 1957. The “Sprinting Blacksmith” carried 101 times for 545 yards and a Big Ten-best nine touchdowns that season, leading MSU to an 8-1 record and a No. 3 ranking in the Associated Press poll. - Read more at LSJ.com
