EAST LANSING – When Russell Byrd left Michigan State to play his final season at The Master’s College near Los Angeles, he did so in part to improve his professional basketball opportunities.
He’s found one that he said feels right.
Byrd signed a contract Thursday to play professionally this season in Israel for Maccabi Hod HaSharon.
“I had a couple better (financial) offers. But it really is the quality of the league, the fact that it’s in Israel,” Byrd said. “Basketball there is well respected. If you play well there it really helps you in your next contract. (Scouts) keep an eye on you when you’re there. It was more the quality of the league, the people I’d be with and the team I’d be on, more than the money. But the money is definitely manageable.” – Read more at Freep.com
