MSU at No. 8 in first College Football Playoff rankings

SEC dominance is the national headline to emerge from the first-ever College Football Playoff rankings, but the local headline is Michigan State opportunity.

The Spartans came in No. 8 on tonight in the first of seven top-25 rankings from the 12-person committee, and MSU should have a chance to move up from there considering, as ESPN host Rece Davis said: “There’s a lot of losing left to be done.”

The last rankings will be revealed Dec. 7, when the committee chooses the four teams to take part in the first College Football Playoff – with Jan. 1 semifinals at the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl, followed by the Jan. 12 national championship game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. - Read more at Freep.com
