EAST LANSING — Connor Cook’s has talent and poise, though he’ll be the first to admit his decision-making and a few fundamentals have room for improvement.
Most importantly, Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio has complete trust in his quarterback to the extent that he’s willing to overlook mistakes and allow him freedom to abandon the script.
“I do think you have to take the good with the bad a little bit,” Dantonio said when asked about Cook’s play-making and ability to improvise for the No. 10-ranked Spartans. “Gunslinger, I don’t know if that’s a good term or a bad term. But if it’s a good term, then maybe he’s a gunslinger.
